On Friday, October 4th, 2024, Prof. Hans Merzendorfer, coordinator of the Codeš Programme, was pleased to welcome Prof. Francisco M. Goycoolea, Codeš advisory board member and Mercator fellow, along with Prof. Bruno Moerschbacher, Codeš Programme Committee member, during their visit to Siegen.
The visit included a pleasant business lunch, followed by a tour of the Adolf-Reichwein Campus at the University of Siegen. Members of Prof. Merzendorferās lab had the opportunity to present brief overviews of their ongoing research projects, engaging the visitors in fruitful scientific discussions. The exchange of knowledge paved the way for valuable collaboration opportunities within various chitin/chitosan-related projects.
After a productive day in Siegen, the visitors returned to MĆ¼nster, where Prof. Goycoolea will be staying until October 20th, 2024. He is hosted by Prof. Moerschbacher at the Institute for Biology and Biotechnology of Plants, University of MĆ¼nster.
Prof. Goycoolea is a leading expert in the field of applied biopolymer science and nanobiotechnology, with a focus on developing innovative bioinspired materials such as hydrogels and nanoparticles for applications in food, biomedical, and biotechnology sectors. He is currently working at the Faculty of Biology at Universidad de Murcia, Spain.
During his stay in Germany, Prof. Goycoolea will be actively engaging in scientific discussions with Codeš members, offering valuable advice and insights to help advance their research projects.
